'Would Blow Up...': Ahmedabad International Airport Gets Anonymous 'Letter Threat'

Ahmedabad: The Sardar Patel International Airport on Monday received a bomb threat, a report said, quoting a senior police official of Ahmedabad Crime Branch. The sender, who is yet to be identified, said that he "would blow up the airport", but the call was later found to be a hoax one.

"A letter written by an unknown person was found at Sardar Patel International Airport, Ahmedabad, threatening to blow up the airport," said Sharad Singhal, JCP Ahmedabad Crime Branch, as quoted by ANI.

Earlier in January this year, a Chennai-bound flight had received a bomb threat, which later turned out to be a hoax.

Authorities at Chennai airport had gone into panic over a bomb threat to a city-bound international carrier, but the call turned out to be a hoax.

The flight with about 237 passengers was thoroughly checked upon making a safe landing, but no explosive substances were found onboard.

The checking, done based on information, included scanning the baggage of passengers thoroughly.
