All Netflix Returning Shows LOST Viewers In 2024 Except THIS Romantic Period Drama
In 2024, Netflix's lineup of returning series faced a notable trend: most experienced a decline in viewership compared to their previous seasons. However, one standout defied this pattern. Let us find out what that show is!
Bridgerton's rapid growth
Bridgerton, Netflix's acclaimed romantic period drama, emerged as the sole returning series to increase its audience in 2024. Season 3, which showed the much-anticipated love story of fan-favourite characters Penelope Featherington aka Lady Whistledown, and Colin Bridgerton, garnered 106 million views within 91 days of its release. This marks a 13% rise from Season 2's 93.8 million views, according to What's On Netflix. While Season 1 remains the most-watched installment, the consistent growth only proves the show's and romance genre's enduring appeal.
Drop in numbers for other recurring shows
In contrast, several other returning Netflix series saw declines in their viewership:
The Lincoln Lawyer: Maintained stability with 17.9 million views for its complete third season in the first 14 days, closely aligning with the 18 million views from the initial part of Season 2.
Heartbreak High: Experienced a modest 3% drop in viewership between its first and second seasons. Despite the slight decline, the series has been renewed for a final third season.
Virgin River: Recorded a 6% decrease in viewership for Season 6 compared to Season 5. Nonetheless, its enduring popularity led to a renewal for a seventh season, with discussions underway for an eighth.
Emily in Paris: Saw a 9% decline in viewership in its latest season. Despite the downward trend, the series continues to attract a substantial audience and has been renewed for a fifth season.
Outer Banks: Experienced a 15% drop in viewership for Season 4. The series is set to conclude with its upcoming fifth season.
Cobra Kai: Faced a significant 26% decrease in viewership during its final season, which was released in three parts.
The biggest drop in numbers was faced by That 90s Show, which has not been renewed after its disappointing season 3, which even failed to make the charts.
