Megastar Chiranjeevi has sparked controversy with his recent comments at the Brahma Anandam pre-release event. The actor, who is known for his candid nature, described his home as feeling like a "ladies' hostel" due to being surrounded by his daughters and granddaughters.
Chiranjeevi draws flak over latest comment
During the event, Chiranjeevi shared his wish for his son to have a son next time, expressing a hope to carry on the family legacy. He said, "When I'm at home, it doesn't feel like I'm surrounded by my granddaughters; it feels like I'm a ladies' hostel warden, surrounded by ladies all around. I keep wishing and telling (Ram) Charan, at least this time, have a boy so that our legacy continues, but his daughter is the apple of his eye... I'm scared that he might again have a girl."
The veteran actor's recent comment about wishing for his son to have a son has sparked a lot of negative reactions. Many people expressed disappointment, saying that girls can carry forward a legacy just as well as boys, and his comment sends a harmful message. One tweet wrote, "The post highlights an issue that's unfortunately still prevalent in 2025. It's disheartening to see someone of Chiranjeevi's stature perpetuate outdated gender biases. The obsession with a male heir is not only disappointing but also a reflection of a societal mindset that needs urgent change."

For the unversed, Ram Charan and his wife, Upasana, welcomed their baby girl, Klin Kaara, in June 2023. Chiranjeevi, apart from having his son Ram Charan, is also the proud father of two daughters, Sreeja Konidela and Sushmita Konidela. Sreeja has two daughters, Naviksha and Nivrati, while Sushmita is the mother of Samara and Samhitha.
Chiranjeevi's latest films, Waltair Veerayya and Bhola Shankar, were released in 2023, with the former being a hit. He has several projects lined up, including Vishwambhara and another film directed by Srikanth Odela.
