Will Parvesh Verma Fulfill His Father’s ‘Unfinished Works’ In Delhi? BJP Leader's Bold Promise

Parvesh Verma on Sunday said that February 8 would be marked in "golden letters" in Delhi’s history, emphasising that the entire city had been waiting for a “good government” to take charge.

New Delhi: BJP leader Parvesh Verma on Sunday paid floral tributes at his father’s memorial, Dr. Sahib Singh Verma Samadhi Sthal in Mundka. He described his father's life as a "source of inspiration" and pledged to complete his “unfinished works.” Verma also stated that all BJP MLAs would work together to beautify Delhi in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision.
Later in the day, Parvesh Verma stated that February 8 would be marked in "golden letters" in Delhi’s history, emphasising that the entire city had been waiting for a “good government” to take charge. "This is Delhi's victory, not just mine. The whole of Delhi was waiting for a good government to come. The BJP government under the leadership of PM Modi in the country is working for the country. In Delhi, on the same note, we will do all the work with honesty and utmost determination," Verma said at a public gathering in Mundka.
Who Is Parvesh Verma?
Parvesh Sahib Singh, son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma, has created history by defeating Arvind Kejriwal, who ruled Delhi for almost a decade, from the New Delhi seat. This is only the second time the BJP has won the New Delhi Assembly seat. What makes this win a bit too big is the fact that Arvind Kejriwal, a political novice then, defeated the then-sitting chief minister Sheila Dikshit ending the 15-year rule of Congress in 2013. History has been repeated with this decisive win.
Verma, the two-time West Delhi MP and former Mehrauli MLA is known to have strong roots in the national capital. He built his roots by promising houses to slum dwellers, better infrastructure, 50,000 government jobs, and smog-free Delhi. Though his win is partly powered by the anti-incumbency and a few self-goals by the ruling Aam Aadmi Party, Verma also got huge support from the Jat community owing to his lineage as the son of former Delhi CM Sahib Singh Verma.
Born in 1977, Verma comes from a prominent political family. His father, Sahib Singh Verma, was Delhi's chief minister between 1996 and 1998. His uncle Azad Singh served as the North Delhi Municipal Corporation mayor and also unsuccessfully contested from Mundka constituency from the BJP during the 2013 assembly polls.
Parvesh Verma completed his schooling from Delhi Public School, RK Puram and Kirori Mal College and went on to receive the Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree from the Fore School of Management. Yes, he did not go to any foreign university, an out-and-out Delhiite.
The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) has won the Delhi elections with a massive mandate marking a significant return after 27 long years. The saffron colour covered the national capital as the party secured 48 seats while AAP was reduced to only 22. A CM from the BJP will serve the people of Delhi. The decision is not been made yet, but several names are being considered.
