End Of Kejriwal's Era: Delhi Gets 'Double-Engine Sarkaar'; Final Tally - BJP 48, AAP 22, Congress 0
The BJP is all set to form the next government in Delhi, dealing a major blow to AAP. As per the latest trends, BJP won 48 seats, while AAP bagged 22. Adding to AAP's woes, Arvind Kejriwal lost his New Delhi seat to BJP’s Parvesh Verma. Other top AAP leaders, including Manish Sisodia, Awad Ojha, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, also faced defeat.

The big names in battle this time in Delhi elections.
New Delhi: In a major setback for AAP, the BJP ended AAP's winning streak in Delhi and is all set to form the next government in the national capital after 27 years. The saffron party won 48 seats, while AAP could only secure 22. Adding further to AAP's woes, party supremo Arvind Kejriwal failed to retain his seat, with BJP's Parvesh Verma emerging victorious in the fiercely contested New Delhi assembly seat. Kejriwal got 25,999 votes, and lost the polls by a margin of 4,089 votes.
Other big names from AAP that failed to impress included Manish Sisodia from Jangpura, Awadh Ojha from Patparganj, and Saurabh Bharadwaj from Greater Kailash, all of whom lost their seats to the BJP.

The AAP's defeat in the Delhi election also holds significance as it took the Modi-led BJP three attempts to regain the national capital from their grip. Despite a Modi wave in 2014, when the BJP fought the Delhi assembly election in 2015, the party suffered a crushing defeat as it managed just three seats.

AAP continued its strong run in the 2020 assembly election as it managed 62 seats, stalling BJP's march to the national capital.
For AAP, this election was a battle of prestige as Arvind Kejriwal hoped that a victory would help clear the party’s image amid corruption allegations. The BJP on the other hand threw all its might to make a comeback after an exile of 27 years. Though by the looks of it , the battle mainly seems between AAP and the BJP but the Congress too played a decisive role here. Political pundits observed that the grand-old party did eat into some of the vote share of AAP, which eventually proved decisive in the Delhi election.
Delhi Assembly Election: What Exit Polls Had Predicted?
Almost all major exit polls had predicted a win for the BJP. At least eight Political Consulting Firms, including Chanakya strategies, had predicted a BJP comeback in Delhi. These polls had predicted 39-44 seats out of the 70 seats in the Delhi assembly for the BJP. These polls further predicted that the ruling AAP will be reduced to 25-28 seats.
The JVC poll had predicted the BJP to win between 39-45 seats. AAP's tally was projected at 22-31 seats, as per its prediction. The Congress was predicted to win 2 seats.
Matrize exit poll had predicted the BJP-led NDA may get 35-40 seats. The survey projected the AAP to get 32 to 37 seats and zero to one seat for the Congress.
