Explained: Why Are India And England Players Wearing Green Armbands In 3rd ODI At Ahmedabad

India is aiming to complete a series whitewash after winning the first two matches. England won the toss for the third time in a row but this time chose to bowl first.

Players of both the Indian and England team are wearing green armbands during the ongoing 3rd ODI between India and England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The home team are aiming to complete a series whitewash after winning the first two games by four wickets at Nagpur and Cuttack.
The decision of both teams to wear a green armband on their jersey in support of the 'Save Organ, Save Lives' initiative by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). Before the start of play, Rohit Sharma and Jos Buttler pledged their support by signing a special board.
The programme encourages people to donate organs of their bodies which can help save lives of those in medical need. International Cricket Council (ICC) chairman Jay Shah is spearing the noble cause.
Talking about the match, England won the toss and chose to bowl first. India made three changes to their playing XI as Varun Chakravarthy missed out due to an injury while Ravindra Jadeja and Mohammed Shami were rested in what is the last ODI match of the Men in Blue before the 2025 Champions Trophy. Kuldeep Yadav, Arshdeep Singh, and Washington Sundar were included in the line-up.
While Indian captain Rohit Sharma departed for a knock of one run in two balls with Mark Wood getting his wicket, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli put the team back on track with a 116-run partnership in just 87 balls. Both players made half-centuries before Adil Rashid once again got Kohli's wicket after the ex-Indian captain made 52 runs in just 55 balls. Gill has made a 50+ score in all three matches in this series.
Talking about England, they made just once change as Tom Banton was included in the playing XI in place of Jamie Overton. Banton replaced the injured Jacob Bethell in the squad ahead of the team's arrival in Ahmedabad.
