Gurugram: Married Woman Security Guard Shot at for Refusing Marriage Proposal of Man She Met 2 Years Ago

Gurgugram: A man has been arrested by police in the city for allegedly injuring a married woman by shooting her in the head. Identified as 23-year-old Upendra, the accused was asking the victim to marry him which she denied. Police said that he approached the woman, who works as a security guard, on Friday where he shot at her.

An FIR was registered against the accused by the woman's father in Gurugrag Sector 10 police station. The cops' probe found that the two had known each other from a long time. The woman, Radha (24), worked as a security guard near plot number 553 in Sector 37.

She was taken to a hospital, and later was referred to Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

Radha is married and is a mother of two daughters. She met Upendra at her village in Uttar Pradesh's Auraiya district. Upendra used to talk to her daughter at the tutition which led to frequent disputes with her husband. Two years ago, Radha got separated from her husband and moved to Gurugram with her daughters.

She stopped talking to Upendra but he kept pressurising her for marriage. She refused the proposal and alsp blocked his number.

On Friday, he confronted her near a park when she was heading for her duty and shot her. He was later arrested from Sector 37, and efforts are underway to recover the weapon used in the crime.
