Harshvardhan Rane Does Not Want Loveyapa To Meet Same Fate As Sanam Teri Kasam: Nobody Should Wait For 9 Years - Exclusive

In the last nine years, Harshvardhan Rane went through countless highs and lows in the film industry. Sanam Teri Kasam was a game-changer for him. While the film underperformed when it released in 2016, the re-release turned the table. Harshvardhan and Sanam Teri Kasam are getting their dues and how!

As Sanam Teri Kasam’s re-release sets the box office on fire, Harshvardhan spoke to Zoom about the underperforming performance during its original release. He urged the audience to watch Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s Loveyapa so that it doesn’t meet the fate that Sanam Teri Kasam did.

He told us, “Nobody knows why Sanam Teri Kasam didn’t work at the box office. I don’t know why people don’t watch love stories. I pray abhi jaise Loveyapa aayi hai, I request all to watch it because I don’t want anyone to wait for 9 years for re-release. Humari bhi aayi thi, humari bhi love story thi. I don’t know how others take it but it was an uphill task for me to sustain.”

Sanam Teri Kasam re-released along with Junaid Khan and Khushi Kapoor’s maiden theatrical film, Loveyapa. The other competitor was Himesh Reshammiya’s Badass Ravi Kumar. Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar re-released in India on IMAX screens. Padmaavat and Bareilly Ki Barfi were the other films to return to the big screen. Sanam Teri Kasam is leading in the race.

On the first day of re-release, Sanam Teri Kasam collected Rs 4.25 crore. The film minted Rs 5.50 crore on Saturday whereas Sunday saw further growth as the collection touched Rs 6 crore. In 2016, the film collected Rs 9 crore in total.

Sanam Teri Kasam was directed by Vinay Sapru and Radhika Rao. Deepak Mukut of Soham Rockstar Entertainment produced the film co-starring Mawra Hocane.
