India’s Got Latent faced backlash from netizens after Ranveer Allahbadia, one of the prominent podcasters who goes by the name of Beer Biceps, asked a participant an extremely inappropriate question.
A complaint was submitted to the Mumbai Police Commissioner and the National Commission for Women. Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis also condemned the language used in the episode and told ANI, “I’ve been made aware of the issue, though I haven’t seen it yet. Some things have been portrayed in the wrong way. While freedom of speech exists, it should not infringe upon others' rights. Our society has set rules, and any violation is unacceptable—action must be taken.”
In March 2024, Ranveer was presented with the Disruptor Of The Year award by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the National Creators Award in New Delhi. While the cops look into the matter, netizens are demanding the government withdraws the award from the renowned podcaster.

Ranveer Allahbadia apologises

Ranveer apologised saying, "My comment wasn't just inappropriate, it wasn't even funny. Comedy is not my forte, I am just here to say sorry. Many of you asked if this is how I wish to use the platform and obviously this is not how I am going to use it. I am not going to give any context or justification or reasoning behind whatever happened. Just an apology. I personally had a lapse in judgement. It wasn't cool on my part.."
He added, "The podcast is watched by people of all ages. I don't want to be the person that takes that responsibility lightly. And, family is the last thing that I would disrespect. Need to use this platform better, that's been my learning from this experience. I promise to just get better."
He ended the video by saying, "I've asked the makers of the video to just remove the insensitive sections from the video. And, all I can say in the end is I am sorry. I hope you forgive me as a human being.”
The first episode of India’s Got Latent premiered on YouTube on June 14, 2024.
