Kolkata's Laal Da Dies Of Cardiac Arrest, Mamata Banerjee Expresses Condolences
Trinamool Congress MLA Nasiruddin Ahmed, known as 'Laal Da,' passed away from cardiac arrest on Sunday. Ahmed, a former lawyer, won assembly elections in 2011 and 2021.

Kolkata: Trinamool Congress party's senior leader Nasiruddin Ahmed from Kaliganj constituency in Nadia district died of a cardiac arrest on Sunday, party officials said. The MLA was popularly known as 'Laal Da' in the area.
On Saturday around 11:50 am, Ahmed complained of health issues at his home. Following this, he was rushed to Palasi Hospital, where he passed away in the early morning on Sunday.
In a post on X(formerly Twitter), West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed condolences and wrote: "Saddened by the sudden demise of my colleague Nasiruddin Ahmed ( Laal), MLA from Kaliganj, Nadia."
TMC Chairperson said, "A veteran public worker and political representative, he was our trustworthy asset. He was a lawyer and a very good social worker, and I truly valued him."
She extended her condolences to his family, friends, and supporters. The former legal professional-turned-lawmaker won his first assembly seat with the TMC in 2011 and secured another victory in the 2021 elections.
