With his breakout role as Thanos in Squid Game Season 2, Choi Seung Hyun aka T.O.P. has become a global name once again. As he receives kudos for his turn on the Netflix series, fans wonder if he will be reuniting with his former BIGBANG mates. Here's what the actor had to say about the latest spate of rumours regarding his return to the K-Pop ground.
T.O.P. denies rumours about return to BIGBANG
After his 2017 sentence for smoking marijuana, Choi Seung Hyun has stayed away from the limelight. With his role as Player 230, known in the outside world as Thanos, T.O.P. became one of the most talked-about new characters of Squid Game Season 2. Due to his previous controversy, the actor wasn't part of the initial promos for Squid Game. However, later Netflix had separate interviews with the Korean star as his popularity grew.Amidst this, fans began to speculate that a reunion was on the cards. They noted that T.O.P’s name was still part of BIGBANG’s official YouTube account. Additionally, Choi Seung Hyun's Instagram page states his stage name, “T.O.P Choi Seung Hyun.” But T.O.P has put to rest the rumors about his return to BIGBANG.
On February 11, the actor-singer's representative put out a statement and clarified, “The name ‘T.O.P’ has consistently been listed in Choi Seung Hyun’s profile from the beginning.” Furthermore, they added, “As he mentioned during the Squid Game 2 interview, he feels apologetic to the members, and there have been no discussions related to BIGBANG.”
Likewise, YG Entertainment that takes care of BIGBANG’s YouTube channel also stated, “The YouTube profile in question has remained unchanged since the release of ‘Still Life.'” The song still names G-Dragon, Taeyang, T.O.P, and Daesung as contributors.
