Tamil Nadu: 2nd Case of Sexual Assault On Moving Train In A Week, Woman Attacked By Drunk Man

Tamil Nadu: A 26-year-old woman was allegedly sexually harassed aboard a train when she was travelling from Thoothukudi to Erode. The victim was travelling in an unreserved compartment when an intoxicated co-passenger misbehaved with her.

This comes just a few days after an incident on the Coimbatore-Tirupati Intercity Express, where a pregnant woman was attacked by a man.

The accused has been identified as Satish Kumar.

The victim sought help from other passengers and the police were alerted via railway helpline number.

When the train reached Dindigul railway station, police were waiting and after a preliminary inquiry, Satish Kumar was arrested

Just a few days before, a four-month-pregnant woman was severely injured and traumatised after a man tried to reportedly sexually assault her. While on her way to Chittoor, she was attacked by a man near Katpadi station as she headed to the washroom. When she resisted the sexual assault, the assailant shoved her out of the moving train after she cried for help.

The 36-year-old victim, who was 17 to 20 weeks pregnant, suffered severe injuries and was admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Vellore. Despite medical efforts, she suffered a miscarriage two days after the attack.

The woman had suffered serious injuries, including fractures in both her arms and legs, as well as a head wound that required 20 stitches.
