More about Thandel
Thandel draws inspiration from real-life events involving fishermen from Srikakulam. The story is about Raju (Naga Chaitanya) and Satya (Sai Pallavi). They’re in love since childhood. ‘Raju becomes Thandel (leader of the fishing boat) and ventures into the sea for several months. An apprehensive Satya asks Raju to stop fishing and lookout for a job on land. While Raju promises Satya, he later ventures into the sea. His boat accidentally enters Pakistan shores.’
After the release of Thandel, Naga Chaitanya’s father, superstar Nagarjuna tweeted, “Dear, @chay_akkineni, Proud of you my son! I have watched you push boundaries, face challenges, and give your heart to the craft. Thandel is not just another film—it is a testament to your relentless passion, your courage to dream big, and your hard work. To all the Akkineni fans—you have stood by us like family, and Thandel’s success is as much yours as it is ours. Thank you for your endless love and support! Gratitude.”
Thandel released on February 7 in theatres worldwide.
