Tripura: A 40-year-old man in Tripura allegedly killed his wife after an argument, spent several hours with her body, and then walked into a police station to confess on Tuesday, an officer said, as per a PTI report.
The accused, Shyamal Das, a resident of the Amtali police station area in West Tripura district, was arrested. According to Sub-Inspector Shyamal Paul, Das had an altercation with his wife, Swapna, over family matters on Monday night and fatally struck her with a blunt object.
"Shyamal spent the night with the body inside his house. At around 1.20 pm today, he walked into the police station and claimed his wife was lying in a pool of blood inside his house. A police team went to the spot and recovered the body," he said.
The police have sent the body for post-mortem examination and launched an investigation into the case.
Further investigations are underway.
In another incident, three people were killed and over two dozen passengers injured when a double-decker bus returning rammed into another stationary double-decker bus on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura on Tuesday. Both buses were returning from the Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj. The injured were taken to the hospital for treatment, they said. Two passengers standing outside the stationary bus were crushed and died on the spot, while another succumbed to injuries during treatment.
