The recent controversy regarding the YouTube show India's Got Latent, featuring YouTubers Ranveer Allahbadia, Samay Raina, and Apoorva Mukhija, has sparked a major debate in the Indian comedy scene. The incident led to backlash and legal action against the show and its panellists. The Maharashtra Cyber Department filed an FIR on Tuesday (February 11) and summonses have been sent to about 30 guests who have appeared on the show since its first episode. Recently, director-writer Varun Grover has reacted to an FIR filed by the cyber cell department.

Taking to X (formerly called Twitter), the All India Rank director shared ANI's tweet about the FIR and wrote, "Every comedian who appeared as a judge on it has been named in the FIR. They should be asked to guess their sentence and if it matches the sentence pronounced by the judge - they should be let go. #IndiaGotLateCapitalismNeoInfluencerism."

The ANI report states, "A case has been filed against a total of 30 to 40 people. A case has been filed against all the people who were involved from the first episode of the show to episode 6. The process of sending notices to everyone has been started. Everyone will be called to record their statements."

For the unversed, India's Got Latent has made headlines once again and this time the controversy erupted when popular podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia made an inappropriate remark and cracked an incest joke during an episode. Additionally, Apoorva Mukhija was seen using abusive language while interacting with a contestant.
This triggered a massive outrage, leading to reactions from various industry bodies, including the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) who issued a strong condemnation terming Allahbadia's remarks as "abhorrent" and "disrespectful" to societal and family values.
Following the viral spread of clips from the episode, public outrage led to a formal complaint being filed against the show and its panellists. As a result, the episode was removed by the makers, and the police summoned Allahbadia and the other panellists for questioning.
